Story
CARE Club at Mount Vernon High School is a student led group created with the goal to better our school as well as the community around us. While only being around for a little more than a couple of years, we have accomplished countless projects that have only helped our environment inside and outside of school. CARE Club at our high school not only opens up a safe space for all students, but gives students the opportunity to let their voices be heard in an open and loving atmosphere. CARE Club has held many presentations and discussions from students as well as outside speakers about topics like social justice all the way to mental health, providing necessary learning opportunities for students. Although CARE Club meets once a week, our presence is visible throughout the entire school all the time. Just this year we raised money to start offering free tampons and pads in bathrooms at school, still providing this for high schoolers today! We also offer many worthwhile and unique volunteer opportunities for students that not only impact us, but the community around us! This year we helped to raise money for Food for Thought through a fun competition within the entire district, held our second annual Trunk or Treat for the community, and organized a second blood drive. We are so excited for the future of our club and all the changes we want to bring about because we see how special this community is and continues to be. Donations of any kind are greatly appreciated as our club expands and we continue to do the work to keep our school and community the best it can be. Thank you! - Mount Vernon High School CARE Club, Connect, Absorb, Respond, Empower
