The Prom of the Stars is a dance for mentally and physically disabled teenagers and adults. The dream of the Prom started as a passion in the heart of Jim Riner, former elder at Farragut Christian Church, who gave much of his life to this special community.
We've carried on the tradition of the Prom, since Jim's passing, which serves around 1,200 participants and caregivers every year with the love of Jesus fueling our efforts. It's the largest single-day volunteer effort we have as a church, going back to 2003. The Prom is fully funded outside of our regular operating budget and costs approximately $30,000 to put on. It is only through the generous donations of our church family and the community that we have been able to continue this ministry.
Custom merchandise that bears the Prom logo is not only a way of raising money, but a powerful witness to the story of the Prom, a conversation starter and reminder of the beauty of the hands and feet of Christ to some of the most forgotten, yet most beautiful among us.
