The Winfield Historical Society has big news! We are now the proud owners of one of the last remaining original brick buildings in Winfield’s business district. We were blessed to have this building donated to us and are excited to begin renovations to preserve this piece of Winfield’s history. Built in 1907 by the Larson and Patterson Company, it originally housed a grocery and dry goods store. Over the years, several other businesses occupied this building including a Proctor and Gamble store and a laundromat. The building has been empty for several years and is deteriorating. The previous owner completed several repair projects including work on the roof and tuckpointing the brick on the front of the building, but we have a long way to go. Our immediate goals are to continue the brick repair on the north side and replace the large store front windows. We are hoping to get some of this work completed before the end of the year, and we would appreciate your help! Please consider purchasing an awesome shirt, mug, tote bag, or set of notecards with our special Winfield Historical Society design; or purchase any of the other wonderful items from Cause Team. 40% of your purchase will be donated to our project. Cause Team is a great place to start your Christmas shopping!
We will be staying in our current location for the near future, but our hope is to one day make this special historical building our new home. Our vision for the future is to expand our artifact collections and displays and become a more integral part of our community. Thank you in advance for your support!
