100 Who Care Alliance Harvey Relief for Odyssey
Start: Sep 6, 2017 - End: Dec 31, 2017
As we have all watched Hurricane Harvey and its devastation on the greater Houston area, we, as 100 Who Care Chapters across the country, want to help. We are all about individuals giving collectively to make a huge impact. We know there are over 525 chapters in the Alliance. If everyone gives even a small amount and shares the link with family and friends who have been searching for a way to give, imagine the collective impact we can make.
We have the opportunity to show our friends and sister chapters in Texas the power of 100 at its best! #thepowerof100 #prayersforHouston
The Odyssey After School Enrichment Program is home to over 130 Aransas County students, a majority of whom are at-risk. Odyssey is the only non-profit afterschool program in our area, and is vital to families in Aransas County. This year marks the 15th year of service to our community. Odyssey provides children in kindergarten through seventh grade a safe, enriching environment, after school, while their families are at work. Children enjoy a healthy snack, homework help, individualized tutoring, mentoring, and a vast array of enrichment activities. Activities include art projects, science experiments, cooking classes, tennis lessons, yoga, swimming, 4H, math and engineering challenges, music lessons, theater, and much, much more!
The Odyssey campus was significantly impacted by Hurricane Harvey. The gym and cafeteria/cooking classroom may no longer be useable and will require extensive repairs and rebuilding. Parts of the roof and ceiling are missing in our library/computer lab and our classroom hallway. Both buildings suffered flooding and are currently still holding water. Our award winning gardens and playground have been totally destroyed. Thankfully our goats and chickens have been safely relocated, but their homes also need repairs.
Thank you so much for considering the Odyssey program for your donation. So many children and their families are depending on us. In addition to working to reopen our doors, we are trying to establish a fund to help our Odyssey families with their needs. 100% of your donation goes directly to the Odyssey program and is tax deductible.
