The Arnolds’ Adoption
Start: Nov 2, 2017 - End: Dec 31, 2019
Hello Friends, We are James and Emily Arnold. Welcome to our One Mission Fund created to support the journey toward our first adoption! We are hoping to raise funds for a domestic infant adoption here in Texas, through Christian Homes and Family Services.
Starting in 2011 my husband and I went through some very trying times for me health wise where I was eventually diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus and stage 4 lupus nephritis so basically lupus and kidney failure. Through God’s gracious provision and healing, amazing physicians and medical staff across the state, and family and friends who never left my side I achieved remission in just one year. I have been stable and in remission the last almost 6 years and am able to lead a very healthy and happy life thanks to an anti-inflammatory diet, exercise, and modern medicine. All along, most physicians we saw advised us that biological children and pregnancy would be at best extremely dangerous, very difficulty, and high risk for both me and the child and would be at worst physically impossible, life altering, or life threatening. The other physicians were simply unwilling to discuss pregnancy. This was incredibly hard emotionally, especially for me, and took time to really process and come to peace with. Ultimately, after a lot of prayer, my husband and I understood that God had restored my health for a reason- not so that I could endanger myself and possibly a child selfishly in spite of what I knew could transpire, but so that I could be ready to be the best parent I could for the child he had chosen for us- a child that would bless our life more than we could fathom.
All along this difficulty journey God has never left our side and we have never turned away from Him. The more we prayed about and pursued adoption, the more confident we felt that this was the path God had chosen for us. Looking back I can see it even more clearly, in the small details and in the big decisions. We stepped out in faith, doors began to open, and it became clear God would guide us through this process. We came to understand that this could be a life of joy, love, and happiness with the family God had chosen for us before the foundation of the world. Needless to say we are so excited to follow His will for our family in this adventure to parenthood!
As you probably know adoption is quite expensive. We are currently working through mounds of paperwork, saving diligently, and working on many great fundraisers to cover the cost of our adoption. We have met our first small goal of raising funds for the official adoption application. Our next goal is to raise enough for the marketing and social services that help match us with a birth mother or birth family. We could not do this without the help of our family and friends so thank you in advance for all your love, prayers, and support!!
