Catherine McAuley Center
Start: Nov 28, 2018 - End: Jun 30, 2020
The Catherine McAuley Center offers hope and opportunity through educational and supportive services that promote stability, skill-building, and connection. With your help Catherine McAuley Center can continue to provide our services to the community and build awareness about the issues and challenges our clients face.
While the Catherine McAuley Center’s programs serve distinct populations – immigrants, refugees, and women experiencing crisis – they are united by a common purpose of promoting the well-being and dignity of individuals in need, and helping people achieve greater stability, community inclusion, and improved quality of life.
The Adult Basic Education Program offers one-on-one and small group tutoring in U.S. Citizenship exam preparation, math and literacy along with English as a Second Language to more than 450 adult learners from more than 50 countries each year.
The Transitional Housing Program provides a safe, supportive living environment and basic needs assistance to unaccompanied women who have experienced crisis. Residents meet weekly with their case manager to set goals in financial stability, physical and mental health, and healthy relationships, while also participating in therapeutic and skill-building groups that facilitate a sense of community among residents.
The Refugee & Immigrant Services program offers many skill-building and self-sufficiency opportunities to refugees and immigrants. The program resettles approximately 140 refugees each year as an affiliate of the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI), connecting them with housing, employment, education, medical care, and cultural orientation. The program also offers employment-readiness education, one-on-one job coaching, employment-related transportation, and assistance navigating other community resources for healthcare, legal, and other needs.
With your help, CMC will be able to continue to be a trusted, welcoming, and helpful place to all of our neighbors seeking assistance. Proceeds from your apparel and gift purchases will provide supplies and comforts to residents, education materials, furniture, food and clothing for refugees and our overall ability to continue to provide exceptional services to those community members who need it.
