CNY Diaper Bank
Start: Nov 16, 2018 - End: Dec 16, 2018
Did you know?
Diapers are a basic need that no baby should ever have to go without, but the truth is, every day babies and toddlers go without the diapers they need to stay clean and healthy.
Fifty percent of Syracuse children under the age of 5 live in poverty (1 in 4 live in extreme poverty) and diapers are not covered by SNAP or WIC.
- Not having diapers means parents can’t leave their children with a childcare provider, most of which require parents to provide disposable diapers for their children.
- Not having diapers means a longer time between changes, which can lead to severe diaper rash and other health risks.
- Not having diapers means that babies who cry because their diaper is dirty will cry that much longer, increasing stress and anxiety for parents struggling to make ends meet and increasing risks for physical abuse.
- Not having diapers can adversely affect a mother’s feeling of self-worth, negatively impacting the mother-child bond.
We are here to help.
The Central New York Diaper Bank is a nonprofit that was created to assist social service organizations in the Syracuse area distribute diapers to families in need. Our mission is to ensure all Central New York families have access to an adequate supply of diapers, and to build awareness of diaper need in our community.
