Riverwood Center by Council for Change
Start: Dec 11, 2019 - End: Nov 4, 2020
The Council for Change (CFC) is a group of employees who work at a community mental health center in southwest Michigan. Our purpose is to act as change agents in order to create a positive work environment through a system of recognition and rewards, social activities, education and opportunities for community involvement.
Some of the community involvement opportunities we support within our community is to help consumers have the best quality of life possible. We do this by assisting them financially with obtaining prescriptions, transportation to and from medical appointments, paying bills in emergent situations (i.e. rent, electricity, water), and many other needs that arise.
The CFC also donates to local community crusades and to some abroad. The CFC has donated to many causes, some of those were United Way, a local youth camp for the purchase of food for the campers, a local program that provides habilitative and rehabilitative supports and services for those with disabilities, to local elementary for their project to purchase fresh water filters for the Dominican Republic, to the Elks Club to assist with holiday parties for those with disabilities, to the Hurricane Maria relief in Puerto Rico, and to a local agency to assist those effected when our area was flooded.
All of the support we have provided have been based on fundraising that CFC has hosted within the agency. We are now branching out to others to seek help in continuing to make positive changes in southwest Michigan and in other areas of the Unites States and abroad.
