Summit Ridge Checkers Eagle Scout Project

Many of you know me, but for those who don’t, my name is Jacob Bloch and I am a Boy Scout with Troop 460. I am very excited to share that I am on the final steps of my Scouting journey toward becoming an Eagle Scout. I have wanted, and have been working on this goal since the first grade.

My path began on the other side of the world in Nonthaburi, Thailand with a Foreign Service group of Cub Scouts of America. I moved to Moscow, Russia and continued on with an American Pack there. Finally, I moved back to the United States and joined Pack 460 in the fourth grade and was able to join Troop 460 when I was eleven years old. I am very proud to be a member of Troop 460, and with their guidance and support, I take these final steps.

During my time with the Troop, I have served as Den Chief, Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader and Senior Patrol Leader. I’ve earned thirty merit badges, and fifteen awards including a National Den Chief award, one hundred mile Northern Tier award, and my proudest honor, Scout of the Year with Troop 460 in 2019. I was nominated and inducted into the Order of the Arrow, an honors society for Boy Scouts in 2018. I have completed Northern Tier and Sea Base, and am currently preparing for Philmont.

When a Scout prepares for his or her Eagle project, they are asked what kind of project speaks most to them. Projects should serve the community in some way, and benefit for time to come. I chose to build a large checker board game station at a local park because as a child growing up, I enjoyed playing board games. My family also has a regular game night, where we spend some fun quality time together. I thought bringing an opportunity like this to my hometown would provide that same fun for children and parents to have together. And though I have moved around a lot, Mount Airy has always been home. I am honored to be completing a project which will benefit a community that I love.

With your purchase or donation, proceeds will go directly to funding my project. I look forward to building this checkboard game, and seeing it be used by my community for years to come. As a supporter, your name will appear in all media thanking my supporters and will be announced on site at completion.

Your support will also directly help me earn the rank of Eagle, which I will take with me into my adulthood.
