Food For Thought

Food For Thought (FFT) is a committee that evolved after a need for food security was seen throughout the Mt. Vernon and Lisbon communities after a pop up food pantry in the winter of 2019. This pop up food pantry was created due to an extended period of time with school closed due to weather and a strong concern for our families. In one day the Mt.Vernon/Lisbon communities showed up in full force and filled an entire cafeteria of donated food. The next day we helped over 100 members of our communities and provided them with food and household items during a difficult time.   Following this successful pop up food pantry, volunteers started sharing ideas and a committee was formed. During the summer of 2019 The Southeast Linn Community Center partnered with a group of passionate and generous people from the Mt. Vernon and Lisbon Communities…and from that FFT was formed. Since then various food, household and school supply pantries have happened. We are proud to say we are able to continue to support many families in the Mt. Vernon/Lisbon communities due to the generosity of each other. Our main fundraising efforts this past year have been in person, collecting money or sponsoring fun events for people to attend. With COVID-19, we have decided to not hold in person fundraisers this year and instead participate in a fundraiser through One Mission! We would love to have you help support the families of the Mt. Vernon and Lisbon communities by donating to this amazing group! The best way for everyone to be taken care of and thrive is by People Helping People!
