Healing Our Heart

On March 7, 2016  as I sat in American Family Childrens Hospital,Wisconsin, trying to figure out of ti say good bye to my son, Zaire. This day he wouldn’t be leaving the hospital as I so desperately hoped. I walked out, no Zaire but, Ameshia, my little sister and the person that stood by me regardless of every high and low as I tried to navigate the loss of my infant son- and she try to navigate losing the only nephew that she thought she’d be there from beginning to end with and in an eery way…….she was. I looked upon the sky and made a faint decision that I would do something to make Zaire proud of me. I didn’t have a clue as to what but it would be something, this Healing Our Hearts Foundation came to fruition. Every other day I was discussing loss in some form with people I didn’t even know, from phone calls at work to meeting  strangers in the store. It was good because I got to share Zaire and other moms got to share their babies with me.

Healing Our Hearts is focused on removing the misconception related to loss by creating healing conversations around the cycle of life while acknowledging the emotions and feelings associated with bereavement. We want to increase awareness and understanding surrounding grief and loss while supporting those who seek to mend their hearts. By removing the stigma and misconception about grief, Healing Our Hearts will help create a more sympathetic world that recognizes “that time doesn’t always heal  “and that no one just gets over” the loss of a loved one.
