Social Worker Training Program

First of all, I would like to thank you for reading my story. It is inspiring to me to be a part of such a unique movement to help make the world a better place!

A little background about myself: I have been a caregiver, helper, empath, teacher, and supporter for all of my life. My career has primarily been in the social work field and direct care services for persons with disabilities. I have two special needs children of my own and I am a single mother. Without any extended family of my own and with limited resources I feel held back by from fulfilling my mission in life: I am called to help.

My education is limited to the AA level due to a myriad of barriers experienced throughout life such as childhood trauma, parental abuse and neglect induced by drug addiction, lack of emotional and financial supports etc. My application to Mount Mercy has been accepted and I am very hopeful that I will finally be able to complete my BA. In the social work field the BA level of education is critical to reaching the most people and providing for ones own family. I am desperately seeking to get my children out of the generational trauma and move into a place of being able to reach out and help so many people.

I have always been a very good student, typically 3.6 GPA and above. The financial barriers faxed are what’s holding me back from the next level of bettering lives through continued education. It is my hope that with your support I will be able to start classes in January 2020.

Thank you so much for your consideration!
