Mike Duroe PinCancer
Start: Sep 24, 2018 - End: Nov 1, 2018
Mike Duroe was a legend. Not only was he a legendary coach of men and women in the sport of wrestling, his coaching encompassed many avenues of life.
On September 12, 2017, Coach was diagnosed with the most aggressive form of brain cancer, grade IV glioblastoma (GBM). This as-yet incurable cancer took him down on July 6, 2018.
While personally fighting for his life, he was was coaching us how to live fully until we die, and the impact he had on thousands cannot be put into words. He wanted his legacy to be finding a cure for pediatric brain cancer. What affected him most was seeing children and their parents coming and going in the same cancer center he was in, receiving the same treatments he was receiving, all fighting to live. He said, “And I want to feel sorry for myself? Wrong! WE HAVE TO HELP FIND THE CURE FOR PEDIATRIC CANCER.”
Mike Duroe’s Initiative to PIN CANCER is to advance the research for pediatric cancer, to “pin cancer” once and for all.
We are partnered with the USWF (US Wrestling Foundation), PINCANCER (a non-profit organization that raises funds for cancer awareness and research through local and national wrestling events and merchandising), and with the NWCA (National Wrestling Coaches Association) who advocates for wrestling in the institutional market at the nation’s high schools and colleges.
To know Mike, you would know it doesn’t matter if you are wrestling in the finals at the Olympics or in local youth wrestling clubs or camps– Mike Duroe is in your corner.
Please join us in pinning cancer and help win this fight.
