The Rick Rodgers Community Pool

$1,599.96 Raised!

Start: Apr 16, 2018 - End: Jun 29, 2018

The Winfield Community Development Group is a group of volunteers with the mission to better the Winfield community.  This year we have made it our mission to raise the funding for a new community pool.   The current pool is beyond repair and will need to be demolished. A new pool will be built on the same site as the current pool. The new pool will have zero entry depth, slides, diving board, umbrellas, new bath house, ADA compliant, and option to be heated.  Plans include building a facility that will truly enhance the community through a safe and healthy family entertainment option.  We plan to name the new pool after Rick Rodgers.

Rick Rodgers worked for the City of Winfield as the Public Works Director for 11 years before he passed away.   Rick was a lifelong farmer and citizen of the Winfield community.  In 1990 he married Lori and was then blessed with 3 amazing daughters- Kara, Taylor, and Haley.

Rick spent many of his summers at the Twin Lakes Country Club Swimming Pool. As a young man he was a swimmer that enjoyed cooling off at the pool and playing the famous game of Gator.  When Rick was in high school he worked as a lifeguard. Rick and Lori enjoyed making big splashes in the pool with their three girls.

When Rick worked for the City, he spent many hours doing much needed maintenance on the pool to keep the water safe for the swimmers.  Kara remembers seeing her dad getting annoyed with the constant break downs and repairs to the pump.  But Rick would just shake his head and give it his magic touch.  Rick knew that the pool was in dire need of renovation or complete replacement.  He also knew how important the pool was to the community.

Naming the pool in memory of Rick Rodgers is an honor to the Winfield Community Development Group.  Rick and his family are great supporters of the Winfield community.  When Rick was volunteering, you were sure to see a smile on his face.  He always wanted to be sure that the kids had what they needed to have a good time, even if it was an extra package of TP!  Let’s not forget the many hours he spent behind the grill at school event, the man of the grill.  On rainy or cold days you would see Rick giving kids a ride to school. Every morning he would stop by the Jones’s and bring the newspaper up to the house, this is just one of the many things Rick would do for his neighbors.  Rick did so much for the Winfield Community and never wanted to be recognized for his work and dedication to the community.

Even though Rick Rodgers is no longer walking beside us, we know he is still watching over the community that he had spent his life making a fun and safe place to raise a family.   The Winfield Community Development Group is asking for your donation to help build The Rick Rodgers Community Pool.
