Support for Shannon Walker
Start: Jan 10, 2021 - End: Mar 31, 2021
Shannon Walker, beloved high school science teacher at Lisbon Community Schools, was stricken with COVID-19 in November and was hospitalized for almost five weeks. Shannon was in a medically induced coma and on a ventilator for two of those weeks to help her lungs heal from the severe pneumonia. Now that she is finally back home, she continues to work hard at her physical therapy to gain back the strength she lost being in a hospital bed for so long. She will be in recovery until March at the earliest and will not be able to work until then. Her medical team from the respiratory and rehabilitation teams at the hospital believe she is lucky to be alive.
With her COVID leave and sick day pay with the school district running out before Holiday break, the Walkers will be facing months of diminished income. There is no doubt that they will feel the economic impact of Shannon’s hospitalization as she is not cleared to return to work until late March.
Shannon’s friends and coworkers would like to encourage anyone who is able to donate a little to help Shannon and Graham get through this time as Shannon faces months of physical therapy. The long-term damage to her body is still unknown.
These donations will go towards replacing any diminished pay so that Shannon and Graham can pay bills. Shannon also has a very restrictive diet and many food sensitivities that make grocery shopping more expensive.
Anyone who knows Shannon knows how incredibly generous she is, and how she will give you the shirt off her back. Literally! Let’s return some of that kindness, love, and good karma that she deserves.
There are 3 easy ways YOU can support Shannon’s Fund:
- You can purchase any of One Mission’s great products (including our custom “She is the Storm” designs) and 40% of what you spend will be donated.
- You can donate cash (One Mission doesn’t charge a platform fee).
- You can share this Fund with your friends and family.
Please consider doing all three of these things!
