The Warhurst's Journey to Adoption
Start: Oct 9, 2018 - End: Dec 31, 2018
Our family story began in 2011 when we had Remington (Remy). He was born at 28 weeks, and came out fighting! He and I were very sick for a long time. He’s been our biggest blessing to date. Now he’s my favorite 7 year old, and in 2nd grade! You know how plans always work out just the way you thought, right? That’s how our plan for growing our family went. When Remy was 3, I was healthy again and felt confident in adding to our family. Over the next 2+ years, we struggled with getting pregnant, and then suffered 3 miscarriages. For the first half of 2017, Jason and I had both been thinking adoption is our answer, but we didn’t share that with each other. For me, I always thought we would have at least 2 biological children and possibly adopt later on (back to how plans work, right?). I was not ready to admit what I thought of as a failure, with not being able to carry a healthy baby. Jason kept it quiet because he knew how much I was hoping to have a successful pregnancy. On our 8th wedding anniversary, I blurted it out over a bottle of wine, and he immediately agreed that adoption is God’s plan for us. We are now MATCHED and have built a wonderful relationship with our Birth Mom (We call her Mama E). Baby GIRL is due mid-November, and we are so excited to travel to Louisiana for delivery. The average private adoption costs $32,000-$48,000!
Here’s a breakdown of some of the costs: Home Study: $3,000 (paid!), Home Study reapproval (original HS expires 10/2018): $600, Marketing fee for Adoption Agency: $16,200 (paid!), Attorney fees: $7,000-$10,000, Birth mom support: $2,000-$4,000, Travel and hotel stay during ICPC: $2,000-$5,000 Our current fundraising goal is $1,900 to go toward travel and stay in LA. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR CONTRIBUTING TO OUR ADOPTION FUND!!!
We hope you realize what an impact you’ve made towards our dream of becoming a family of four. Our hearts are so full!
