Owen's Seizure Dog

Our son, Owen, is a lively seven year old that has had uncontrolled seizures since he was 11 months old.  Owen does not let one thing about his seizure disorder define him.  He is the kid wearing a helmet on the playground and talking someone into letting him climb the monkey bars by himself.  Everyone he meets is his friend.  Owen loves music, especially the drums, playing outside and riding his bike and he just also happens to have a seizure disorder.

Due to his disorder, and the struggle to keep him safe, he cannot sleep alone, or do many things alone, including playing outside with his brother.  At the age of two, he was diagnosed with a rare type of epilepsy called Dravet Syndrome.  This epilepsy is considered a catastrophic epilepsy and causes many challenges for our son besides seizures.  He has problems with elopement, hyperactivity, impulsivity and balance and gait.

As the effect of his seizures on his daily life became apparent, we were recommended a service dog for Owen when he was three.  We applied and were placed on the waiting list.  This summer we were notified that Owen has a dog waiting for him in Kansas.  This service dog is not only medically necessary, it is necessary for our growing son to have some well deserved independence.

While we have some funds to contribute to the overall cost, we are not able to cover the entirety on such short notice.  Owen is so excited to meet his dog and we are excited to see the newfound level of independence this dog will provide.

We thank you for reading this, for sharing, and supporting if you are able.  Most of all, we thank you for supporting our son.

Purchase with Purpose

40% of every product purchased is donated

Between the awarding of the grants we applied for, the One Mission site, private donations and our lemonade stand, we have met our goal! We are SO incredibly grateful to all of you for helping! I am going to keep this site up for a bit in case people want to order some last minute shirts. I know we had requests for tanks to be added, and they were added yesterday. We have started a doggie fund that any excess costs not used for travel will go to to help offset vet bills and most likely, pet insurance.

Thank you to all who donated and helped us get here! Now, please send good thoughts that we will be able to travel. We continue to keep an eye on the mandates and case counts here and in Kansas. I have nothing but good faith that this will work out!

Thank you from the ever grateful, O’Bryan Family

First, thank you EVERYONE that shared, donated, ordered and sent good luck our way! We just got notice we were approved for a mini grant that will pay for half of the cost of the dog! We are so grateful to all of you for your support.

Thank you <3
