Honoring the Life and Legacy of Garrett Wade Stephens
Garrett Wade Stephens was born on September 25th, 1982, and lived a life full of creativity, adventure, and love. His unexpected passing in his sleep on December 4th, 2014, left a lasting impact not only on those who knew him but also on those who never had the chance to meet him.
As we approach the 10th anniversary of his passing, we are reminded of the light, laughter, and simple joys Garrett brought into the world.
This t-shirt fundraiser is a way to honor Garrett’s legacy, allowing those who loved him to carry a piece of his spirit with them. The custom design reflects his deep connection to nature, simplicity, and living life fully. The lyrics "be something you love and understand," from the song Simple Man, capture a guiding principle that Garrett embodied.
The backtag design features the logo of Key City Kustom, Garrett’s one-man business that he poured his heart and soul into. He mastered the trades of airbrush, fabrication, and more, building a business driven by his creativity and passion. Garrett would have loved to see his logo being repped far and wide by the people who continue to honor him.
By supporting this fundraiser, you not only celebrate Garrett's life but also support a cause we believe he would have wholeheartedly backed. Tristate Mountain Bike Riders (TMBR), a non-profit founded by one of Garrett’s close friends, is dedicated to transforming the Dubuque area into a Midwest mountain biking destination. As Garrett's mom fondly shared, "Garrett was a biking nut, and had the broken bones to prove it."
40% of each purchase and 100% of cash donations (minus standard fees) will benefit TMBR, helping fund new bike trails, trail features, and park amenities like pavilions and benches. Your support ensures that something special is built in Garrett’s honor, making a lasting impact on the community he loved.
Together, we can keep Garrett’s memory alive and continue making a difference for future generations.
